Short abstract from the book:
The meadow pipit is a common migratory breeder in the Faroes with a population of 500- 2,000 pairs. 240 birds have been ringed, most in Søltuvík, Sandoy (76) and Sumba, Suðuroy (71). The first meadow pipit was ringed in Bøur and Gásadalur, Vágar, in 1924, and the largest numbers were ringed in 2004 (113) and 2006 (17). Meadow pipits have been ringed during spring (11), the breeding season (67) and autumn (161). No meadow pipits ringed in the Faroes has been recovered. A bird ringed as an adult on 13 October 1955 in Hertforshire was found dead on 7 May 1956 in Porkeri, Suðuroy, 1169 km NNW of the ringing site. A meadow pipit ringed as a first-year bird on 13 August 2006 on Einarslundur, Hornafjørður, Iceland was found dead on 25 September 2006 on a ship at the Iceland-Faroe Ridge, approximately 350 km ESE of the ringing site.
