Short abstract from the book:
The herring gull is a common breeding bird in the Faroes, with a population of approximately 1,500 pairs. It is also a visitor during migration and winter. The species is hunted for consumption. 322 herring gulls have been ringed in the Faroes, the majority in Klaksvík, Borðoy. Most have been ringed in June (33%) and July (60%), and 84% have been ringed as chicks. There are 26 recoveries, two of them abroad. Most recovered birds were shot (80%). Six birds ringed abroad, have been recovered in the Faroes: Three from Britain, two from Iceland and one from Norway.
