Short abstract from the book:
Chiffchaff is a common migrant and a rare summer visitor to the Faroes. There is one recorded breeding occurrence, in Tórshavn in 1981. 296 chiffchaffs have been ringed at five different locations, most on Nólsoy (267) (where a Helgoland trap is operating), and Sumba, Suðuroy (27). 137 are from spring (April-July) and 158 from autumn (August-November). Four have been recovered, all ringed and controlled on Nólsoy within the same year. A chiffchaff ringed 24 April 2003 on Fair Isle, Shetland was controlled 5 days later (29 April) on Nólsoy, 387 km NW of the ringing site, corresponding to an average minimum speed of 77 km/day. A chiffchaff ringed 13 October 2003 near Bree, Belgium was found dead 7 June 2004 on a ship 45 km west of Mykines, 1,490 km NNW of the ringing site.
